Says 1 Billion Users Affected in New Breach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1360\" src=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/identity-management\/files\/2016\/09\/yahoo-data-breach.png\" alt=\"yahoo-data-breach\" width=\"800\" height=\"350\" \/>Former Google competitor Yahoo<em>! <\/em>disclosed yesterday that it has discovered what is potentially history\u2019s largest data breach, affecting more than one billion user accounts and dating back to August 2013.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The news comes just two months after Yahoo <a href=\"https:\/\/yahoo.tumblr.com\/post\/150781911849\/an-important-message-about-yahoo-user-security\">confirmed<\/a>\u00a0rumors of\u00a0a massive security breach affecting at least 500 million Yahoo Mail users in September, though this breach is reportedly separate from the former, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/yahoo.tumblr.com\/post\/154479236569\/important-security-information-for-yahoo-users\">a statement<\/a> from Yahoo CISO Bob Lord.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Yahoo was first notified of the massive breach by law enforcement, who provided the company with data files that a third party had claimed was Yahoo user data. Then, with the help of \u201cforensic experts,\u201d the search-co examined the data and determined that it had been obtained by an \u201cunauthorized third party,\u201d according to Lord.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">As of yet, the company has not been able to figure out just how the data of its one billion-plus users were stolen, says lord. \u201cWe have not been able to identify the intrusion associated with this theft.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Stolen user account information potentially included names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, MD5 hashed passwords, and even encrypted security questions and answers.
