SAP Coins “Intelligent ERP” for HANA Cloud

SAP S/4HANA Cloud: The Next Generation of Cloud ERP

SAP Coins "Intelligent ERP" for HANA CloudIt’s long been said that data isn’t data has moved beyond binary digits and is increasingly cognizant of context. In the modern world of Enterprise Resource Planning, a modular system gives employers a strong degree of flexibility. The German software giant, SAP, has announced its plans for the “next generation” of cloud-based ERP software with the latest release of SAP S/4HANA Cloud. S/4HANA was originally released at the end of 2015 and is now receiving an update with new architecture out of in-memory in combination with with contextual analytics, digital assistant capabilities and machine learning.

It looks like SAP is looking to incorporate some AI into their ERP offering. This is bound to help users adjust and adopt business processes using real-time data analytics. S/4HANA is being advertised as an ERP offering that gives organizations the ability to use cloud computing at their own pace. The new release for S/4HANA in the cloud features a professional services cloud for project management, a finance cloud, that includes procurement and order management capabilities, and an “enterprise management cloud” to be used for comprehensive real-time business management.

“Customers are buying their IT in a much more modular way, what we have seen in the last decade is that firms are continuing to run some [data] modules in core ERP, but also looking to extend outward to gain specific capabilities,” explained Darren Roos, president for SAP S/4 HANA Cloud.”

“SAP S/4 HANA Cloud encompasses the latest architecture and technology innovations, along with SAP’s proven set of business management expertise to usher in a true new generation of intelligent ERP in the cloud,” Roos added.

In a briefing in advance of the cloud and AI announcements, Sven Denecken, senior vice-president, product management, co-innovation and packaging, SAP S/4 Hana, said: “I wouldn’t favor one over the other. Just to water down an existing ERP to the cloud does not make a difference. That is why this next-generation intelligent ERP that we are alluding to is important. I think the fact that the market is ready to consume an ERP in the public cloud means the two have to come together and come together with business outcomes, too.”
