The 6 Leaders in the Gartner Identity Governance and Administration MQ

Ping Identity Announces Microsoft Azure MFA Integration

identity governance leaders

As part of our ongoing coverage of the identity and access management (IAM) and identity governance and administration (IGA) markets, we try to keep a close eye on the numerous and distinct solution providers that comprise both sectors of the cybersecurity world. The key word here is distinct: no two IAM or IGA vendors offer exactly the same products and services—each has their own strengths and weaknesses, sizes and focuses. While it’s natural for the latest innovations and gadgets to take up the most collective attention, there also needs to be a recognition of the pillars of the markets.

The following providers have recently been named Leaders in Gartner’s 2018 Magic Quadrant for Identity Governance and Administration. While each company’s market share differs, these tools shape the foundation of the IGA market according to Gartner. Their report suggests that the success these vendors achieved over time serves as an inspiration and benchmark for new vendors entering the IGA field. These providers stand out as cornerstones in the market, offering tools for a wide variety of use cases, and thus in Gartner’s report are worthy of the Leader title.

The 6 Leaders Gartner named in their report are:

SailPoint offers their Identity IQ and a separate cloud-architectured IGA solution called IdentityNow. They completed their IPO last year and expanded their functionality and integration capabilities.

Oracle offers the Oracle Identity Governance (OIG) suite, which comes with streamlined deployment, integration, and upgrading capabilities. It can be paired with other products for hybrid deployment and to achieve cloud provisioning.

CA Technologies offers the CA Identity Suite and a cloud access management solution called CA Identity Service. They offer rapid deployment via incorporation of DevOps concepts, governance as a service, and machine learning capabilities. CA Identity Governance is their distinct IGA product.

IBM offers the IBM Security Identity Governance and Intelligence (IGI) suite. Their product favors flexibility, automation, and audit case management. The Identity Governance and Intelligence suite can be paired with their cloud access management solution.

One Identity offer the Identity Manager, which features strong governance and SAP integration. It also features risk-based analysis on identity and access. One Identity made the Leaders quadrant this year on the back of excellent execution and significant innovations.

Saviynt offers the Saviynt Security Manager as a cloud-architectured IGA service solution. Their governance capabilities can include application and infrastructure access in specific environments. They follow an integrated risk-aware approach.
