BeyondTrust Releases Cybersecurity Predictions for 2021

BeyondTrust recently released its annual cybersecurity predictions for the upcoming year of 2021. The predictions, authored by security experts from BeyondTrust, explores the threat landscape, cybersecurity culture, and more. Further, the report looks at the apocalyptic tenor of 2020 and how that may affect the coming year.

ALERT: Cyber threats don’t rest, even during global pandemics. You can learn more with the Solutions Review Identity Management Buyer’s Guide and our other resources. We also provide a Bottom Line analysis for each vendor covered therein, as well as key facts about the Identity Management market.

BeyondTrust serves as a privileged access management (PAM) solution provider; it can operate across traditional, cloud, and hybrid environments. The vendor works to secure and protect privileges across passwords, endpoints, and access, as well as giving organizations visibility and control to reduce risk, achieve compliance, and boost operational performance.

Among the BeyondTrust cybersecurity predictions for 2021, experts expect weaponized machine learning, increased deep-fakes, and a data privacy implosion. Additionally, the PAM-provider expects a shift to an identity-centric model of cybersecurity, especially as hackers use compromised identities to their own nefarious ends. Additionally, these predictions include the long-term effects of the COVID-19 epidemic, which looks to continue into 2021. The line between physical and cyber-attacks may blur as hackers use digital malware to affect physical shipping; worse, as COVID-19 continues to render people house-bound, the profitability of these attacks increases over time.

Morey Haber, CTO and CISO at BeyondTrust, offered some thoughts with the BeyondTrust cybersecurity predictions for 2021. “COVID-19 has truly effected a paradigm shift in how businesses and employees work and has also had profound ramifications for securing the people and IT assets of enterprises. Looking ahead helps us anticipate where cyber threat actors will undoubtedly head as they look to take advantage of this paradigm shift.”
