Fed Says Cybersecurity a ‘Top Priority’

“In a presentation on Wednesday at the SIFMA/AICPA Financial Management Society Annual Conference, Arthur Lindo of the Federal Reserve talked knowingly of the Fed’s priorities on topics like bank capital requirements, Dodd Frank Section 608, commodities regulation and incentive compensation for financial services companies.”

Twitter Opposes Cyber Bill as Senate Prepares for Debate

“Twitter Inc. became the latest firm to oppose a Senate measure aimed at encouraging companies to share information about cyberattacks, potentially creating a political headache as lawmakers prepare to take up the measure. Somewhat predictably, Twitter took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce its opposition to the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015.”

Sony to Fork Out $8 Million on Staff Lawsuit After Cyber Attack

“Sony Pictures Entertainment will pay up to $8 million to draw a line under a lawsuit filed by employees after it suffered a major destructive cyber attack almost a year ago. The movie giant claimed in court papers filed in Los Angeles on Monday and seen by Reutersthat it would pay up to $2.5m ($10,000 per person) to current and former staff who experienced “unreimbursed losses from identity theft of misuse” following the attack.”

4m Customers’ Personal Data Compromised in Breach of UK ISP TalkTalk

“UK ISP TalkTalk has been the victim of what it called a “significant and sustained” cyberattack on its website in which hackers may have gained access to personal data of up to over four million people. The attack, what may the biggest of its kind on a household UK firm, happened sometime on 22 October and almost a day later the full extent the breach has yet to be finalized. However, TalkTalk conceded that “there is a chance” the compromised data includes company  names, addresses, date of birth, phone numbers, email addresses, account information, and, most worryingly, credit card and/or bank details.”

Centrify to Deliver Comprehensive Support for Google for Work

“Identity and Access Management (IAM) provider Centrify announced today that it is one of the first Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) providers to work with Google to deliver integrated identity and mobile management for Android for Work. In addition to Android for Work, Centrify will now also deliver single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA) support for Chromebooks, shared account password management and auditing of privileged users for Google Compute Engine’s virtual servers, and enhanced user provisioning for Google Apps.”

Dell Boosts Security Portfolio

“At this week’s Dell World conference, Dell unveiled a new range of security solutions for enterprise customers. On Tuesday, Dell unveiled what it calls “future-ready solutions” including a new approach to detecting and blocking advanced persistent threats, expanded user security on the cloud, multi-factor authentication, and enhancements to its existing Dell Data Protection suite.”
