Okta and Exabeam Partner for Identity Security Detection

Today, identity and access management solution provider Okta announced a new partnership with SIEM solution provider Exabeam. This new partnership coalesces in a solution that combines the identity security of the former with the detection, investigation, and response capabilities of the latter to stop credential-based attacks as they occur. Exabeam has also joined Okta’s Integration Network, which will assist them in detecting user-based threats.

Through their Okta partnership, the Exabeam Security Intelligence platform can aggregate authentication steps and allow security teams to take immediate actions such as requiring step-up authentication.

Ted Plumis, Vice President of Worldwide Channels at Exabeam, said in a statement: “Whether it’s a malicious or compromised insider, credential-based threats are tricky to identify. We are excited to partner with Okta to deliver a…security solution that will provide customers with visibility and additional context.”

In his own statement Chuck Fontana, Vice President of Integrations and Strategic Partnerships at Okta, said: “In today’s threat environment, security is at the forefront of every organization’s mind, no matter what industry they are in, and the more intelligence that is available to them, the better decisions they can make to keep their users and data safe. We’re excited to be working hand-in-hand with Exabeam.”

Stolen credentials continue to be the top cause of enterprise-level data breaches, yet enterprises continue to neglect identity security in favor of strengthening their perimeter. In fact, identity has become the new perimeter, fitting with the new detection-based cybersecurity paradigm. Instead of the legacy perimeter, each individual user must be protected to ensure digital security.

Exabeam recently raised $50 million in fundraising to expand its global presence and cloud portfolio. Okta was named as one of the best IAM platforms of 2018. Its CEO, Todd McKinnon, was named one of the 10 Coolest IAM CEOs this year.
