The COVID-19 pandemic stretched many business’ IT infrastructures to the breaking point. The need for better authentication and more in-depth visibility into users’ activities become ever more critical. This applies doubly to privileged users, whose powers within the environment can utterly devastate your bottom line if it falls in the wrong hands. 

Unsurprisingly, hackers try to subvert or steal privileged credentials en masse. Privileged access management provides the tools necessary to repel these attacks and keep your superusers safe.

Centrify

CentrifyCentrify had a busy 2020. It was named a Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management. Also, it received a Leader in The Forrester Wave: Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Q4 2020. Centrify unveiled the Centrify Reliance Partner Program and announced its vision and solutions for Identity-Centric Privileged Access Management (PAM). 

BeyondTrust

BeyondTrustBeyondTrust received many accolades in 2020. For starters, it earned a Leader position in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management. Also, it was named a Leader in The Forrester Wave: Privileged Identity Management, Q4 2020. Finally, BeyondTrust was cited as a leader in KuppingerCole’s Leadership Compass for Privileged Access Management. In 2020, BeyondTrust’s Privilege Management for Windows became fully integrated with the company’s flagship                                                                         Password Safe.

CyberArk

Another Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management, CyberArk enjoyed a strong 2020. It was named a Leader in the Forrester and KuppingerCole reports. Additionally, CyberArk launched the CyberArk Cloud Entitlements Manager to assist with cloud environment identity security; also, it acquired Idaptive to assist with IDaaS. With its other updates, Cyberark looks prime for a banner 2021. 

Thycotic

ThycoticThycotic received the title of Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management, as well as in the Forrester report. It also automated and expanded its privileged access security in DevOps environments and released new privileged access management capabilities for mobile devices. 2020 saw the general availability of Thycotic Identity Bridge and the provider being named to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies.  

Ping Identity

Ping identityPing Identity offers PingID, a cloud-based, multifactor authentication (MFA) solution that can protect applications using Single Sign-On. Also, it appeared in the Gartner 2020 Critical Capabilities for Access Management Report. In 2020, it unveiled PingZero, a suite of passwordless authentication features. Recently, Ping Identity acquired Symphonic Software to enhance its Zero Trust.
