The Solutions Review Identity Management Vendors to Watch is an annual listing of solution providers we believe are worth monitoring. Companies are commonly included if they demonstrate a product roadmap aligning with our meta-analysis of the marketplace. Other criteria include recent and significant funding, talent acquisition, a disruptive or innovative new technology or product, or inclusion in a major analyst publication. 

Identity management is rapidly becoming the archstone of enterprise cybersecurity procedures and a major market in the technology field. The reason for this prominence centers on data breaches. Make no mistake: data breaches can absolutely destroy your enterprise, regardless of its size or import.

As of 2020, ForgeRock also offers the ForgeRock Identity Cloud platform, aimed at helping protect identities on public cloud, on-premise, or hybrid environments. ForgeRock’s innovative track record and focus on scalability makes it ideal for organizations requiring large solution deployments. It is affordable and has advanced support for IoT when compared to competitors. Additionally, it appeared in the 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management as a Visionary. 

IBM

One of the major technology providers appearing in the Identity Management Vendors to Watch, 2020, we introduce IBM. IBM appeared in the Gartner 2019 Critical Capabilities for Identity Governance and Administration. Also, it appeared as a Leader in the 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Identity Governance and Administration and in the 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management. Gartner specifically cited their IBM handling of multiple use cases, including B2B and B2C. 

Microsoft

Microsoft probably needs little introduction. However, since stepping into the identity management, they continued to innovate their multifactor authentication, device registration, and self-service password management capabilities. In fact, Microsoft works to eliminate passwords altogether. Gartner acknowledged in the Gartner 2019 Magic Quadrant for Access Management. Microsoft was named a Leader in that report, which sets them up for an interesting 2020.  

Okta

Okta’s lightweight, multi-tenant delivery model is highly scalable; therefore, it is ideal for organizations via identity administration and provisioning. Their new data centers make the company an ideal IDaaS solution for small to mid-sized businesses. They appeared in the Forrester Wave for IDaaS for Enterprise, Q2 2019, as well as a Leader in the Gartner 2019 Magic Quadrant for Access Management. Gartner noted their market responsiveness and extensibility in authentication protocols. 

OneLogin

OneLogin works to innovate their SSO, directory, and MFA capabilities. Their support proves highly user-focused, and it deploys well with only minimal adjustments. They recently updated their OneLogin Protect authenticator solution and improved their multifactor authentication to increase their security and customization capabilities. This vendor appeared in the Forrester Wave: IDaaS for Enterprise, Q2 2019, and as a Visionary in the 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management. 

Optimal IdM

Optimal IdM appears on our list of Identity Management Vendors to Watch, 2020 for its services and industry recognition. Its offers of managed services will be of special interest to enterprises in areas with limited cybersecurity talent. Additionally, Optimal IdM received recognition as a Niche Player in the 2019 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management. They also appeared on the PCMag Best Identity Management Solutions List of 2019.
