Other criteria include recent and significant funding, talent acquisition, a disruptive or innovative new technology or product, or inclusion in a major analyst publication.

Who are the 13 Identity Security Vendors to Watch in 2021? 

As part of the wildly successful first annual Cybersecurity Insight Jam, we created three distinct Vendors to Watch lists for 2021. We covered Identity Management, Privileged Access Management, and Identity Governance, sharing our views on who accomplished what during the turbulent 2020. 

We’ve created a unique compilation of these lists to create the Identity Security Vendors to Watch 2021. Here they are.

SailPoint

SailPointSailPoint’s IdentityIQ, offered as a standalone on-premises product with several optional add-ons, is well-regarded for its strong identity governance capabilities and provisioning capabilities. In 2020, it continued fostering this reputation. It was recognized in the 2020 Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice for Identity Governance & Administration. Additionally, SailPoint announced new updates to the SailPoint Predictive Identity platform and new updates to its SaaS platform.

Identity Automation

Identity Automation’s, RapidIdentity, supports not only identity governance and administration capabilities but automated provisioning, and access and account management as well. Identity Automation appeared in the KuppingerCole Leadership Compass for Identity Governance and Administration 2020. Additionally, it announced major updates this summer, including password blacklist screening, scheduled entitlements, and FIPS compliance certification. It acquired Enboard in 2020.

IBM

IBMIBM Security’s Identity Governance and Administration suite—Identity Governance and Intelligence (IGI)—combines solutions for strong automation and governance. IBM was named a Leader in the KuppingerCole Leadership Compass for Identity Governance and Administration 2020. Also, IBM Security appeared as a Challenger in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management.

Simeio

SimeioSimeio offers its own identity governance and administration service. That service, its Identity Orchestrator platform, automates compliance reporting and protects against both internal and external threats with password and role management, access creep prevention, segregation of duties enforcement, and identity proofing. Additionally, it received recognition in the KuppingerCole IGA Leadership Compass for 2020.

Microsoft

microsoftIt feels unusual to include a name as huge as Microsoft in the Identity Security Vendors to Watch in 2021. Yet it more than earned its spot. Not only is it a leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management, but it also appeared in the Forrester Wave: Customer Identity And Access Management, Q4 2020. Gartner also cited Microsoft as a stand-alone example in the 2020 Market Guide for Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).

ForgeRock

ForgeRock Solutions Review: The 13 Identity Security Vendors to Watch 2021The ForgeRock Identity Platform is built on Sun Microsystem’s open-source IAM projects and includes a set of APIs, allowing for the efficient and rapid development of new services ready for deployment in the cloud or on mobile devices. In 2020, ForgeRock earned the title of Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management. Also, it achieved an “Overall Leadership” position in the KuppingerCole Leadership Compass for Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM).  

OneLogin

OneLoginOneLogin provides on-demand IDaaS solutions consisting of single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, directory integration, user provisioning capabilities. In the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management, OneLogin was named a Leader. Also, OneLogin’s Trusted Experience Platform received the ‘Remote Work Security Innovation of the Year’ award in the 2020 RemoteTech Breakthrough Awards.  

Okta

oktaThe Okta Identity Management Service provides centralized directory services, single sign-on, strong authentication, provisioning, workflow, and reporting. Okta earned a position as Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management. 2020 saw the release of the Okta FastPass, a passwordless login experience across devices, applications, and operating systems. Additionally, it released the Okta Customer Identity Workflows. 

Ping Identity

Ping identity Solutions Review: The 13 Identity Security Vendors to Watch 2021The Ping Identity Identity Defined Security platform works to secure workforces and customers both on-premises and remote, allowing the right people to access the right things, securely and seamlessly. Ping Identity received the title of Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management. Also, it appeared in the Gartner 2020 Critical Capabilities for Access Management Report. In 2020, it unveiled PingZero, a suite of passwordless authentication features.

Centrify

CentrifyCentrify had a busy 2020. It was named a Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management. Also, it received a Leader in The Forrester Wave: Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Q4 2020. Centrify unveiled the Centrify Reliance Partner Program and announced its vision and solutions for Identity-Centric Privileged Access Management (PAM).

BeyondTrust

BeyondTrustBeyondTrust received many accolades in 2020. For starters, it earned a Leader position in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management. Also, it was named a Leader in The Forrester Wave: Privileged Identity Management, Q4 2020. Finally, BeyondTrust was cited as a leader in KuppingerCole’s Leadership Compass for Privileged Access Management. 

CyberArk

Another Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management, CyberArk enjoyed a strong 2020. It was named a Leader in the Forrester and KuppingerCole reports. Additionally, CyberArk launched the CyberArk Cloud Entitlements Manager to assist with cloud environment identity security; also, it acquired Idaptive to assist with IDaaS. With its other updates, Cyberark looks prime for a banner 2021. 

Thycotic

Thycotic Solutions Review: The 13 Identity Security Vendors to Watch 2021Thycotic received the title of Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management, as well as in the Forrester report. It also automated and expanded its privileged access security in DevOps environments and released new privileged access management capabilities for mobile devices. 2020 saw the general availability of Thycotic Identity Bridge and the provider being named to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies.
