released the results of their new global survey via an ebook entitled \u201cPsychology of Passwords: Neglect is Helping Hackers Win.\u201d The survey polled 2,000 users across the United States, Europe, and Australia. \u00a0Among their surprising and concerning findings, perhaps the most telling is that increased knowledge of security best practices doesn\u2019t necessarily result in better employee password behavior.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"widget\"><div class=\"aside-card\">\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p><a class=\"iam-inject\" href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/identity-management\/get-a-free-privilieged-access-management-solutions-buyers-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1682\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/identity-management\/files\/2020\/01\/PAM_BG_SB_800.gif\" alt=\"Download Link to continual deluge of headlines about data breaches and enterprise hacks and the increasing awareness of cybersecurity best practices, LastPass discovered a noticeable stagnation in password behavior over the past two years. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here are some key findings from the \u201cPsychology of Passwords: Neglect is Helping Hackers Win\u201d e-book: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">91% of users know that using the same password is a security risk. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">59% continue to do so anyway. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">53% haven\u2019t changed their passwords despite hearing of a data breach within the past 12 months. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">61% explain their password behavior stems from a fear of forgetting their passwords.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">50% say they are motivated by wanting to be able to control all of their passwords. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">79% say they have anywhere between 1 and 20 online accounts, both for work and for personal use. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">62% use the same passwords for work and for personal use. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">88% said that password hacking is a serious cybersecurity threat. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">69% are fearful when they hear news of password hacking. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a statement, <a href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/identity-management\/5-questions-on-password-behaviors-with-sandor-palfy-of-logmein\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sandor Palfy<\/a>, CTO of Identity and Access Management at LogMeIn, said: \u201cThe cyber threats facing consumers and businesses are becoming more targeted and successful, yet there remains a clear disconnect in users\u2019 password beliefs and their willingness to take action.
