Today, <\/span>privileged access management<\/span><\/a> provider Thycotic released their <\/span>2019 Global Research Report: “Security-as-a-Service on the Rise.”<\/span><\/a> In this report, conducted at the KuppingerCole\u00a0 European Identity & Cloud conference in Munich, researchers observed increasing SaaS adoption. Indeed, according to the report, 70% of enterprises shall incorporate SaaS into their infrastructure by 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, when Thycotic conducted their study, they found two-thirds of enterprises adopting, or adopting to deploy, SaaS. Why this sudden surge in enterprise adoption?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

First, Thycotic believes enterprises see SaaS as an avenue for reduced cybersecurity costs and faster delivery. Second, enterprises perceive SaaS as a more secure option than on-premises solutions. Finally, calling upon security-as-a-service allows your enterprise to not rely as much on in-house expertise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Joseph Carson, Chief Security Scientist at Thycotic, shared his observations on the report. \u201cOrganizations typically use Security-as-a-Service solutions to limit or eliminate the need for on-premise hardware, software or specialized skilled resources.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c”In another interesting result, the survey showed the security functions most frequently moved to Cloud-as-a-Service were led by Privileged Account Management and Identity Access Management (IAM).\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Why Security-as-a-Service Matters to PAM and IAM\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

The cybersecurity staffing crisis should consider enterprises of all sizes. After all, it means your enterprise cannot as readily call upon in-house security expertise. In fact, finding the expertise to maintain your identity management and privileged access management can prove challenging in itself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, if your enterprise similarly struggles with maintaining secure privileged access, consider seeking out a PAM provider with SaaS options.
