Data misuse can destroy your business.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ping Identity, an <a href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/identity-management\/get-a-free-identity-and-access-management-software-solutions-buyers-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">identity and access management solution provider<\/a>, revealed this finding in their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pingidentity.com\/content\/dam\/ping-6-2-assets\/Assets\/Misc\/en\/3464-consumersurvey-execsummary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2019 Consumer Survey: Trust and Accountability in the Era of Breaches and Data Misuse<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. This study seeks to answer how a culture of data misuse and security breaches impact consumer behavior.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><div class=\"widget\"><div class=\"aside-card\">\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p><a class=\"iam-inject\" href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/identity-management\/get-a-free-privilieged-access-management-solutions-buyers-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1682\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/identity-management\/files\/2020\/01\/PAM_BG_SB_800.gif\" alt=\"Download Link to Privileged Access Management Buyer's Guide\" width=\"800\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Indeed, consumer data misuse is a legitimate worry for modern digital commerce. About 49 percent of respondents report feeling more concerned about protecting their personal data than last year. Meanwhile, 63 percent of consumers believe companies are responsible for protecting their data; this applies even when the users themselves fall victim to a phishing scam or similar attack.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Data Misuse Extends to More Than Just Breaches<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Also, more than half of consumers\u201455 percent\u2014feel more negatively about sharing data without permission. In fact, sharing data without permissions deters more consumers from future engagement than data breaches.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At the same time, consumer-facing enterprises need to balance security with customer convenience via the user experience; customers can and will abandon carts due to inconvenient experiences. Almost two-thirds of consumers express frustration by their login experiences; around a third abandoned a device, application, or service following inconvenient login experiences.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a statement Richard Bird, Chief Customer Information Officer at Ping Identity, summarized the findings on consumer data misuse. \u201cThere\u2019s no question, businesses risk losing customers and damaging their brands if they lack strong, transparent data protection practices.
