Keeper Security today <\/span>released<\/span><\/a> the findings of its 2019 Global State of Cybersecurity in Small and Medium-Sized Businesses. Conducted by the Ponemon Institute, this study surveyed 2,391 IT and IT security practitioners from around the world. From the gathered evidence, researchers determined that 53 percent of healthcare organizations globally experienced a cyberattack within the past year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ponemon Institute, commissioned by Keeper, also found that two out of three healthcare organizations suffered a cyberattack in their lifetimes. Additionally, the study found that healthcare organization cyberattacks resulted in an average of 7,202 patient and employee records and a cost of $1.8 million from the disruption. Further, only one-third of healthcare organizations believe they have a sufficient budget to support strong IT security. Worse, 90 percent of healthcare organizations dedicate less than 20 percent of their IT budget to cybersecurity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Patients depend on providers to protect their sensitive health information and moreover, their lives via connected medical devices. Therefore, it’s critical that cybersecurity becomes a top priority in healthcare.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
