XFE is <a href=\"https:\/\/exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com\/faq\" target=\"_blank\">primarily intended for security analysts<\/a>, but it&#8217;s open to public use. &#8220;Anyone in the security space can get value from XFE,&#8221; says XFE&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com\/faq\" target=\"_blank\">official FAQ.<\/a> Members of security operations centers (SOCs), network security operators, security managers, and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), were some of the possible user cases listed.<\/p>\n<p>Users will have access to \u00a0data from 15 billion monitored security events every day, malware threat intelligence from 270 million end users, threat information from 25 billion websites, and more than a million IP addresses linked to hacking, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/ibm-opens-threat-intelligence-to-combat-cyber-attacks-300066816.html\" target=\"_blank\">official press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of this new release is to encourage collaboration amongst the cyber security community, in order to help businesses mobilize against ongoing or upcoming threats effectively.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re taking the lead by opening up our own deep and global network of cyber threat research, customers, technologies and experts,&#8221; said Brendan Hannigan, general manager for IBM Security in the press release. &#8220;We&#8217;re aiming to accelerate the formation of the networks and relationships we need to fight hackers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the US Government has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/the-press-office\/2015\/02\/13\/executive-order-promoting-private-sector-cybersecurity-information-shari\" target=\"_blank\">advocating for increased intelligence sharing<\/a> in the cyber security industry, and legislation on cyber-intelligence sharing is pending.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Information sharing is something that has been discussed in legislation, within the industry, and between companies but very little action has been taken,&#8221; Caleb Barrow, VP at IBM Security, told\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2015\/04\/16\/ibm_700tb_security_threat_database_cloud_hackers\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Register<\/a><\/em>. &#8220;The Reality is that attackers are well educated and they collaborate like crazy, but the defenders aren&#8217;t collaborating to a level we want and we can&#8217;t wait anymore.
