This week, they revealed the extent of the damage, which includes returns from legal process, administrative information, and personally identifiable information pertaining to subjects of USMS investigations, third parties, and USMS employees. A senior law enforcement official familiar with the incident said the breach did not involve the database involving the Witness Security Program, commonly known as the witness protection program. Though the concept has been around for some time, its move to a pragmatic initiative complete with actionable guidance around deployment is still relatively new.
