\"lastpass4\"LogMeIn has rolled out the first update to consumer-facing password-vaulter LastPass since acquiring the company back in October.<\/p>\n

LastPass version 4.0 now utilizes two-factor authentication (2FA), emergency access, and a revamped look and interface.<\/p>\n

The web vault at LastPass now includes \u201clarge website icons, simpler navigation, and bolder colors,\u201d according to a press release, and browser users will now be able to utilize new browser extension menus.<\/p>\n

Fans of the old LastPass interface will be able to toggle between the previous interface and the 4.0 update.<\/p>\n

LastPass\u2019s new Emergency Access Feature is designed to ensure that users are locked out of their account in the event of a lost \u2018master\u2019 password, and can be used by loved ones in the event of an emergency.<\/p>\n

According to LastPass\u2019 press release<\/a>, \u201cEmergency Access lets users designate trusted family, friends or colleagues to have access to their password vault in the case of an emergency.\u201d For additional security, users may require a waiting period between when an Emergency Access contact can request access to the vault and when access is granted. During that waiting period, users can decline an Emergency Access request to their vault.<\/p>\n

LastPass is still free to use on either mobile or desktop platforms, with a Premium membership allowing cross-platform use and additional features for $12\/year. The latest version can be downloaded from LastPass, and will be available in app stores shortly.<\/p>\n
