\"\"<\/a>ManageEngine offers a platform to aid enterprises in the mobility space, dubbed Mobile Device Manager Plus and the tool now offers support for the new iOS 10.3.<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s latest operating system\u00a0became generally available to the public last month and, in unison, ManageEngine added support for Apple’s new digs.<\/a><\/p>\n

The solution boasts the following features, according to the vendor:<\/p>\n

  1. Wi-Fi network whitelisting<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    “For enterprises whose employees use public Wi-Fi\u2014at airports, libraries, coffee shops, etc.\u2014the stakes are high when it comes to device security,” ManageEngine Product Specialist\u00a0Nikhil Nayak\u00a0said in a recent blog post<\/a>. “Open Wi-Fi networks can serve as a playground for hackers to infiltrate and exploit these devices and gain access to sensitive information.”<\/p>\n

    This new update means that admins can prevent devices from joining WiFi networks that are not secure.<\/p>\n

    1. Dictation restriction<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The dictation feature changes speech to text. It’s a great feature to have but has disadvantages when it comes to privacy and data consumption, according to Nayak.<\/p>\n

      “When voice dictation is enabled via Siri, Apple can store verbal commands, messages, and contacts on its servers for better speech-to-text efficiency.\u00a0Also, voice text messaging requires an internet connection, which can generate\u00a0extra cellular charges.\u00a0With the new update, administrators can use Mobile Device Manager Plus to restrict this feature on iPhones or iPads,” he said.<\/p>\n

      1. Added security commands<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        This platform allows admins to shut down remotely and even reboot devices running iOS 10.3.\u00a0This can be useful in many situations. Take for example a store that runs their iPads in\u00a0kiosk mode\u00a0to use a specific app to procure customer information and feedback. Administrators can use Mobile Device Manager Plus to remotely shutdown or restart all of the store\u2019s devices at once, securing their customer\u2019s data when the store is closed.<\/p>\n

        “This can be useful in many situations,” Nayak explained. “Take for example a store that runs their iPads in\u00a0kiosk mode\u00a0to use a specific app to procure customer information and feedback. Administrators can use Mobile Device Manager Plus to remotely shutdown or restart all of the store\u2019s devices at once, securing their customer\u2019s data when the store is closed.”<\/p>\n

        Remote alarms are also part of this platform and a key security feature. If one of your employees has lost their device or it has been stolen, admins can use a remote alarm to help find it. They can also utilize ManageEngine’s\u00a0tool to restrict Bluetooth usage along with access to Apple\u2019s music and radio services. This keeps users from sending diagnostic reports to Apple.<\/p>\n
