\"BlackBerry<\/a>Endpoint management provider, BlackBerry,<\/a> recently announced the release<\/a> of its BlackBerry Workspaces content collaboration platform. The solution offers ransomware recovery features, which enable businesses to recover from cyber attacks quickly. Ransomware attacks can still occur, even when every precaution is taken. In 2017, the most common kind of malware was ransomware attacks, and their frequency is expected to grow.<\/span><\/p>\n

BlackBerry\u2019s ransomware recovery capability assists businesses in containing and minimizing the damage of ransomware attacks by freezing the affected users\u2019 accounts in the event that their PCs and synced files are infected. With this platform, administrators can check user logs in order to determine what folders, files, and workspaces have been affected. The administrators can then roll the impacted files back to pre-infected versions, with no restrictions on how far back it can recover. This capability enables businesses to avoid the work and productivity loss that can come with system-wide recovery mechanisms.<\/span><\/p>\n

Executive vice president of enterprise products at BlackBerry, Billy Ho stated, \u201cbeyond data loss, opportunity costs, and reputational risks, downtime resulting from ransomware attacks can inflict real harm on customers in any industry, including healthcare or public safety, where the consequences of any delay can be catastrophic. Organizations need to have a strong culture of security to minimize the risk of an attack – something that our Cybersecurity Consulting team has been supporting for the last several years. And in a worst-case scenario, it\u2019s critical that organizations also have a layered defense model in place and an enterprise technology stack that is designed with the inevitable breach in mind.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The ransomware recovery feature will be a part of the BlackBerry Workspaces Collaborate and Secure Plus editions with no additional fee. BlackBerry will demonstrate its new solution in London at the 2018 BlackBerry Security Summits<\/a> on September 12, and on October 4 in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n
