Whether it is a 1:1 device\/student ratio being provided by the district or \u201cBYOD\u201d initiatives, the mobility they provide allow educators to engage the students in a different and more technology savvy way. Just because these initiative are taking place in a different environment does not alleviate K-12 IT Departments of the same concerns the enterprise goes though. With new devices and increased access to network information and data, security, maintenance, rollouts and use are all issues that need to be managed and upheld.<\/p>\n<p>Lightspeed Systems is looking to help in that process by releasing a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution specifically tailored for the K-12 environment, Lightspeed Mobile Device Management. The solutions targets student and network safety while allowing educators to take full advantage to the new technology in the classroom when trying educate students. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.virtual-strategy.com\/2012\/06\/25\/new-lightspeed-mobile-device-management-made-exclusively-k12\" target=\"_blank\">A recent press release outlines such capabilities<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022User-friendly interface with multiples levels of administration &#8211; ensuring neither IT staff nor classroom teachers are overburdened with management and everyone has the visibility and control they need<br \/>\n\u2022Hierarchical controls, giving districts the ability to set policies at the district, school, classroom, and device level<br \/>\n\u2022Centralized management of device inventory, reporting, updates, and installs &#8211; simplifying the day-to-day tasks of the IT staff<br \/>\n\u2022Remote configuration and device wiping to make certain the safety of the network and student are never compromised<br \/>\n\u2022Integration with the Apple Volume Purchasing Plan<br \/>\n\u2022Application deployment and device lockdown &#8211; able to be managed by both teachers and IT through My Big Campus<br \/>\n\u2022All on an easy to use interface made specifically for K12<\/p>\n<p>While the solution is in beta the full solution will be made available for school districts this summer.
