Holiday Inn Hotels Hit by Cyber-Attack

Holiday Inn owner Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has confirmed a cyber-attack has hit the company. IHG, which has some of the world’s largest hotel chains, issued a statement saying it was investigating “unauthorized access” to several of its technology systems. The UK-based company said its “booking channels and other applications” had been disrupted since Monday.

Data collected from LoRa field sensors is backhauled over secured links into many of the major cloud IoT platforms connected to Actility’s ThingPark, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS IoT Core, PTC ThingWorx, and others.

Unifi Selects T-Mobile and Hyperion to Bring Thousands of Employees 5G Phones and Connectivity

Unifi, the largest provider of aviation services in North America, has selected T-Mobile and industry-leading mobility primary agent Hyperion Partners for a new “Managed Mobility” program that outfits employees with 5G smartphones. Unifi has 23,000 team members, and employees at participating locations will receive a free personal 5G smartphone with access to T-Mobile’s 5G network. Eligible employees who can participate include new hires after 30 days of employment and existing employees. North Korea’s Lazarus Hackers are Exploiting Log4j Flaw to Hack US Energy Companies

Security researchers have linked a new cyber espionage campaign targeting U.S., Canadian, and Japanese energy providers to the North Korean state-sponsored Lazarus hacking group. Threat intelligence company Cisco Talos said Thursday that it has observed Lazarus — also known as APT38 — targeting unnamed energy providers in the United States, Canada, and Japan between February and July this year. According to Cisco’s research, the hackers used a year-old vulnerability in Log4j, known as Log4Shell, to compromise internet-exposed VMware Horizon servers to establish an initial foothold onto a victim’s enterprise network before deploying bespoke malware known as “VSingle” and “YamaBot” to establish long-term persistent access. YamaBot was recently attributed to the Lazarus APT by Japan’s national cyber emergency response team, known as CERT.
