Network security and monitoring solutions company Plixer<\/a> recently announced<\/a> their acquisition of Great Bay Software<\/a>, an endpoint visibility and intelligence vendor. The acquisition will help the two companies create an automated network detection and response (NDR) solution that incorporates data on endpoints. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.<\/p>\n

According to Plixer’s press release, the acquisition will enable the two providers to create a unified portfolio of solutions for network and security professionals. Their combined expertise will deliver full real-time and historical network and endpoint visibility across OSI layers 2 through 7, as well as behavior analysis, monitoring, and alerts across your entire infrastructure. It will also provide automated incident response that prioritizes network and security events, ensuring IT professionals know what’s happening to their networks and endpoints.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this acquisition, we are unifying endpoint and network visibility across a combined solution enabling network and security teams to gain improved efficiency, reduced operational complexity and expense, and automated response to security incidents, dramatically lowering risk,\u201d says Jeff Lindholm, Plixer’s President and CEO. \u201cGreat Bay Software\u2019s people, products and partners are incredibly complementary to what we do at Plixer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Plixer was founded in 1999 and was recently acquired themselves by Boston-based investment firm Battery Ventures<\/a> in 2018. The news of the Great Bay acquisition comes only a week after Plixer announced<\/a> Chris Moulas, former Vice President of Sales for both Arbor Networks and Forcepoint, as their new Vice President of Global Sales. In September, Plixer introduced<\/a> multi-vendor SD-WAN monitoring support for their network security and intelligence platform, Scrutinizer<\/a>.<\/p>\n
