As an introduction to the field of security and risk management software, Gartner said the following: “For security and risk management leaders, knowing where the next cyberattack will come from remains challenging. They must manage an ever-increasing number of devices, users and applications spread across infrastructure that includes the Internet of Things (IoT), operational technology (OT), bring your own device (BYOD), on-premises, third-party vendors and connections, and cloud services,”

Gartner continued: “End users are looking for more advanced technologies to continuously monitor for threats to minimize and mitigate risk to stave off cyberattacks. Products using new and innovative technologies that provide automation and ease of use against new threats are preferred.”

The 3 vendors named to the “Gartner Cool Vendors in Security and Risk Management Software for Technology and Service Providers, 2018” report are as follows:

Balbix

Based in California, Balbix offers a breach avoidance platform via predictive algorithms and specialized AI programs. They offer network monitoring and breach-scenario-relevant actionable insights via automatically deployed sensors.

Diskin Advanced Technologies

Diskin Advanced Technologies appears to be so advanced in their Security and Risk Management Software offerings that we actually couldn’t find any information about them. This occasionally happens with up-and-coming vendors, especially vendors that are based outside the U.S. (our research indicates that they are based in Israel). The vendor was founded by former members of Shin Bet, the Israeli intelligence agency, which may speak to their digital secrecy.

Edgewise Networks

Edgewise Networks is based out of Massachusetts. They offer what they call a zero-trust platform for hybrid cloud security in order to prevent lateral attack movement in your network and protect your databases. Edgewise’s solution utilizes machine learning for automatic risk evaluation.
