The results found a surprising optimism among enterprises concerning their cybersecurity.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"widget\"><div class=\"aside-card\">\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p><a title=\"Download link to SIEM Buyers Guide\" href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/security-information-event-management\/siem-buyers-guide-security-information-and-event-management\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1682\" src=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/security-information-event-management\/files\/2020\/02\/SIEM_SB_BG.gif\" alt=\"Download Link to SIEM Buyers Guide\" width=\"800\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> 72% of enterprises surveyed report feeling more fortified against cyber attacks than last year. 61% say their new-found confidence stems from hiring new cybersecurity professionals to their workforces. However, IBM Security noted that this optimism may be misplaced, based on the other findings in their survey: \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">77% of the IT specialists surveyed say their enterprise doesn\u2019t have a formal <a href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/endpoint-security\/safeguard-enterprise-incident-response-plan-irp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">incident response plan. <\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">57% of enterprises admitted the time of their incident resolution has increased in the past year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">65% report seeing an increase in the severity of the cyber attacks they\u2019ve faced. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Only 31% of security professionals feel they have a sufficient budget for cybersecurity. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">77% said that they still have difficulty hiring and retaining cybersecurity staff. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Only 29% of IT professionals say they have the right staff for adequate cybersecurity protection. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">23% says they do not have a cybersecurity leader. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">50% say their cybersecurity leader has been in place for only 3 years or less. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Most worrying to IBM Security was the absence of incident response plans. Close to half of the respondents said their enterprise has an informal, ad hoc, or absolutely no incident response plan. According to Ted Julian, cofounder of IBM Resilient: \u201cOrganizations may be feeling more Cyber Resilient today, and the biggest reason why was hiring skilled personnel. Having the right staff in place is critical but arming them with the most modern tools to augment their work is equally as important. A response plan that orchestrates human intelligence with machine intelligence is the only way security teams are going to get ahead of the threat and improve overall Cyber Resilience.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In other words, without a proper incident response plan, all that talent and technology will operate without direction\u2014and therefore, sub-optimally. <a href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/security-information-event-management\/5-questions-about-gdpr-with-steven-grossman-of-bay-dynamics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GDPR<\/a>, which will go into effect in May this year, will require enterprises that have an incident response plan. Most respondents do not feel confidence in compliance.
