What are the\u00a0GDPR findings most relevant to their long-term plans? These are harder questions than they appear on the surface, and they are intertwined in the minds of cybersecurity professionals across the EU and the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<br \/>Widget not in any sidebars<br \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">SIEM solution provider AlienVault conducted a survey of 759 participants at the RSA Conference\u2014the world\u2019s largest cybersecurity conference\u2014this year. The vendor then compiled their security and GDPR findings in the \u201cRe-thinking Security in the Privacy Era\u201d 2018 Survey Report, which they released yesterday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Among the surprising findings from the AlienVault report, enterprises seem to view GDPR as a potentially transformative opportunity. Most are only now recognizing the value of privacy and the full implications of the online world without privacy controls. Therefore, there are increasing efforts among businesses to incorporate privacy and security into their everyday business processes. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Other security and GDPR findings from the AlienVault &#8220;Re-thinking Security in the Privacy Era&#8221; Report include: \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>61%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> believe GDPR will protect EU citizens.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>69%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> believe similar laws would also protect U.S. citizens. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>75% <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">support the enforcement additional regulations on social media platforms. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>24%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of companies believe they can expertly detect and respond to all types of security issues and catch. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>57%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of participants stated their senior management were concerned about cybersecurity. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>31%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> said they were somewhat concerned. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>4%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> said they were not at all concerned. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>65%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> stated that their enterprise could report a privacy breach within 72 hours of becoming aware of it. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>36%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> said they were confident they had the capability to detect and respond to major security issues when they occur. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>22%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> said that their company\u2019s security and privacy budget increased due to GDPR. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>33%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> said their budget remained the same.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can read the AlienVault &#8220;Re-thinking Security in the Privacy Era&#8221; Report <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here\u00a0off the AlienVault\u00a0website<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
