Massive Data Breach at Ticketmaster; Data from 560 Million Customers Stolen<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This week, hacking group claims it breached global events giant Ticketmaster and stole the details of 560 million customers. The group, named ShinyHunters<\/em>, said in an online forum that the stolen data includes the names, addresses, phone numbers and partial credit card details of Ticketmaster customers. The group’s post said the data was available for purchase for $500,000 in a “one-time sale.” The Australian government said Thursday it is investigating the claims, and the FBI has offered assistance to Australian authorities, a spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Canberra told Agence France-Presse. “The Australian Government is aware of a cyber incident impacting Ticketmaster,” a spokesperson for the Australia Home Affairs Department said in a statement to CBS News. “The National Office of Cyber Security is engaging with Ticketmaster to understand the incident.” The department also urged people with “specific inquiries relating to this incident” to contact Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation, haven’t issued statements on the possible breach.<\/p>\n

Darktrace Appoints Jill Popelka as Chief Operating Officer<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Darktrace, a global leader in cyber security AI, today announces that Jill Popelka will resign from the Board with immediate effect and assume the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Darktrace on 1 June, 2024. Jill will join the executive management team and will report to Poppy Gustafsson, Chief Executive Officer. She will be responsible for implementing operational best practices at Darktrace as the business continues to mature and scale. Jill will assume the COO role from Nick Trim, who will step down from this role at the end of June, following his resignation earlier this year. Jill previously served as the Head of Enterprise Services at Snap Inc. Prior to joining Snap in 2022, Jill was President of SAP SuccessFactors, where she was responsible for strategy, customer success, and the overall health of the business unit. FIDO Alliance Launches “Industry-First” Testing and Certification Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The FIDO Alliance announced this week the launch of potentially the first globally available certification program to test and certify the performance of remote biometric identity verification technology when verifying a user against a trusted identity document for accuracy, liveness, and bias. The certification program, consisting of 10,000 tests at a minimum, assesses a biometric system\u2019s performance across different demographics, including skin tone, age, and gender. It measures resistance to spoof and deepfake attacks with Imposter Attack Presentation Accept Rate (IAPAR), and also assesses the usability and security of solutions by measuring False Reject and Accept Rates (FRR and FAR respectively). The certification also tests \u201cselfie match\u201d capabilities to ensure a user\u2019s \u201cselfie\u201d matches their government-issued ID in the initial account setup process.<\/p>\n
