skills and competencies, strengthening the current and future leadership bench and improving employee experience.<\/a> Gartner recently\u00a0surveyed 843 HR leaders globally \u2014 at the enterprise, business-unit and subfunction levels \u2014 and these three initiatives clearly emerged as priorities.<\/p>\n<div class=\"widget\"><div class=\"aside-card\">\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p><a class=\"speedbump-1\" href=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/talent-management\/free-talent-management-buyers-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1682\" title=\"Talent Management Buyer's Guide\" src=\"https:\/\/solutionsreview.com\/talent-management\/files\/2019\/02\/tm-bg-speedbump.jpg\" alt=\"Download Link href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/smarterwithgartner\/top-3-priorities-for-hr-in-2019\/\">survey<\/a>\u00a0showed that:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>Building critical skills and competencies is a priority for 85 percent of heads of learning and development.<\/li>\n<li>Seventy-eight percent of talent management leaders are prioritizing building the leadership bench.<\/li>\n<li>More than half of all HR leaders agree that improving employee experience is a priority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cGiven the realities of today\u2019s tight labor market, the focus on developing and retaining top talent is critical,\u201d said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/analyst\/67144\/Brian-Kropp\">Brian Kropp<\/a>, group vice president of Gartner\u2019s HR practice. \u201cOur most recent Global Talent Monitor report found that only 53 percent of workers worldwide have a high or somewhat high\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/en\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2018-12-05-fewer-employees-intend-to-stay-at-their-current-emplo\">intent to stay in their current positions<\/a>, compared with 60 percent of workers in 1Q18.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">To deliver against these initiatives, HR professionals and experts must develop a strategy that focuses on the following key levers of improvement, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/en\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2019-01-17-gartner-identifies-top-three-priorities-for-hr-leader\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gartner&#8217;s press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li><strong>Developing \u201cConnector Managers.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Ineffective managers are the single biggest problem in the workplace today \u2014 48 percent of HR leaders say their organization\u2019s managers are not effectively developing employees.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gartner.com\/en\/human-resources\/trends\/hbrconnectormanagers?utm_source=external&amp;utm_medium=press-release&amp;utm_campaign=RM_GB_2019_HRL_NPP_PR1_CONNECTOR-MANAGER\">\u201cConnector Managers\u201d<\/a>\u00a0are the most likely to improve employee performance by fostering meaningful connections among employees, teams and the organization to develop an employee\u2019s specific capabilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"font-size: 1em\">Demand-driven succession management<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1em\"><span style=\"font-size: 1em\">. Among HR leaders, 47 percent said their organization struggles to develop effective leaders and 45 percent said their succession management processes didn\u2019t yield the right leaders at the right time. Traditional succession planning assesses current roles and gaps in leadership supply. By switching to demand-driven planning, HR leaders can assess leadership needs that will enable the organization to achieve strategic goals, not just fill potential future vacancies in current roles.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Additionally, <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2zOfrGP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">talent management software<\/a> can help present them with a comprehensive view of current staff skills as well as how they might be maximized. A clear employee succession plan will assist with engaging employees effectively using existing HR processes.<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"font-size: 1em\">Employee experience. E<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1em\">mployees want the ease of their personal life,<\/span><a style=\"font-size: 1em\" href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2yqVm5q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> fueled by digital technologies<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1em\"> that enable seamless, effortless experiences, to be duplicated at work. To start delivering on this requires a change in focus for HR from just asking what employees want to listening to what they need and determining what they really value.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Maximizing performance within teams and departments is a primary goal of every organization. <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2IeyI7X\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Talent management software offers an effective way<\/a> to get the most out of your top talent and staff as well as available recruits.
