    In high-functioning teams, you\u2019ll hear phrases like: \u201cWhat\u2019s the logic behind your push for this approach?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cWhat trade-offs are you optimizing for?\u201d \u201cLet me try to articulate your position before I respond.\u201d<\/p>\n

    That\u2019s not overthinking. That\u2019s advanced collaboration.<\/p>\n

    How to Build this Skill Without Slowing Everything Down<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    Perspective-taking can be folded into daily work through a few sharp tactics:<\/p>\n

    1. Start with \u201csteelmanning\u201d. Before you counter someone\u2019s idea, restate it as clearly and generously as possible. It forces actual understanding\u2014and often improves your own thinking.<\/li>\n
    2. Ask what they\u2019re solving for. When someone suggests something that seems off, ask: \u201cWhat\u2019s the core problem you\u2019re addressing?\u201d<\/em> You might discover the disagreement is about scope, not substance.<\/li>\n
    3. Change who defines the problem. In project kickoffs, rotate who frames the issue. A customer support rep or QA lead might surface constraints no one else sees.<\/li>\n
    4. Normalize pausing for clarity. In meetings or async threads, give space to ask: \u201cAre we seeing this the same way?\u201d<\/em> That small moment can prevent hours of misaligned execution.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
