IBM and Twitter Partner to Offer Social Business Intelligence and AnalyticsIf you weren’t convinced that the business intelligence market would grow tremendously over the next year, here is a cue that should help change your mind. Two massive corporations, Twitter and IBM, who are the biggest players in their respective markets, social media and technology, are vying for a piece of the pie. These two juggernauts have signed a deal to join to forces to launch a portfolio of data analysis tools aimed toward banking, transportation, consumer products, retail, and other industries.

The agreement will allow IBM’s 10,000 consultants access the nearly 500 million tweets that Twitter sees each day. Together, the companies will create new services to help various industries in measuring public opinion on brand image, product opinions and forecast potential prospects for business development.

“Businesses have only scratched the surface of what is possible,” Twitter CEO Dick Costolo told an event announcing the accord in Las Vegas. From Time – “IBM and Twitter Sign Pact to Turn Tweets Into Better Business Decisions.”

The services will be available through IBM over the next few years and is just part of IBM’s strategy to becoming a cloud technology company.  Their first target will be enterprise applications and services for marketing, sales, and customer service. Then, they will develop custom solutions for industry verticals. IBM will integrate data collected from Twitter into its Watson Analytics platform and enabling access to Twitters API for developers using IBM’s software.
