Infosys: One-Fourth of Enterprises Have Not Moved Any Apps to the Cloud

According to a market study published by Infosys, 24% of enterprises have not moved any of their business apps onto the cloud — meaning a quarter of all businesses haven’t started a cloud app transformation initiative. This comes from a report that Infosys released today on enterprise cloud applications, titled Behind the Scenes of an Intelligent Enterprise: Moving Enterprise Applications to the Cloud.

Our MSP Buyer’s Guide contains profiles on the top cloud managed service providers for AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, as well as questions you should ask vendors and yourself before buying. We also offer an MSP Vendor Map that outlines those vendors in a Venn diagram to make it easy for you to select potential providers.

The results of the survey — conducted by interviewing 853 respondents in 12 industries — revealed statistics on cloud application adoption across enterprises. Infosys found that half of enterprises have either completed or have significant progress in their cloud app transformation. 16% of respondents reported all their major enterprise applications had been migrated to the cloud, while 34% had fully migrated some of their applications. However, 24% of companies have kept all of their applications on-premise.

Infosys revealed some potential factors that could explain a company’s hesitation to move their apps. Of the significant concerns enterprises had during cloud app transformation, the top answer was stakeholder confidence around ROI — 60% of respondents ranked that as the number one concern. Other major concerns include organizational readiness and maturity, security concerns, and alignment between IT and business functions. Thus, while financial concerns are typically a top business priority, IT staff are more worried about ensuring cloud apps will work for the enterprise’s needs.

“As digital disruption impacts incumbents across industries, the responsiveness of their operating models is what differentiates the best from the rest,” said Dinesh Rao, Executive Vice President and Global Head, Enterprise Application Services at Infosys. “However, enterprises face many challenges as they navigate the path towards being more sentient, ‘live’ enterprises – including choosing the right cloud approach, technology investments to repurpose and keeping up with data security. We believe the insights from this research can help enterprises with legacy landscapes to accelerate their digital journeys.”
