Alation offers a platform for a broad range of data intelligence solutions including data search and discovery, data governance, data stewardship, analytics, and digital transformation. The product features a Behavioral Analysis Engine, inbuilt collaboration capabilities, and open interfaces. Alation also profiles data and monitors usage to ensure that users have accurate insight into data accuracy. The platform provides insight into how users are creating and sharing information from raw data as well.

Alation 2021.1 features federated authentication that lets users query cloud services like Amazon Web Services and Snowflake via single sign-on. There is also a new Open Connect Framework software development kit that lets third parties build connectors to niche RDBMS and business intelligence data sources. Data domains now increase search relevancy by letting you narrow searches based on how data is grouped logically by the organization. New impact analysis reports provide an immediate view into the downstream impact of data changes as well.

In a media statement, Alation co-founder and CEO Satyen Sangani said “Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 firms have invested in a myriad of best-of-breed technologies, data sources, systems, and tools. They need the freedom to deeply connect to and integrate these investments without being dependent on a particular vendor. By transforming the catalog into an open platform for data intelligence, our customers can deploy and realize benefits in the short term and have a robust, extensible architecture they can build on top of in the long term.”
