Commvault Links Data Management Portfolio with New Command Center

This morning Commvault announced the release of Commvault Command Center, a single software console that spans the company’s complete solutions portfolio. Command Center combines Commvault’s HTML-5 interface with improvements from AI and machine learning into a new experience based on business and operational outcomes. The announcement was made at Commvault’s third annual user conference Commvault GO 2018, which is being held right now in Nashville, Tennessee.

Commvault offers a broad spectrum of products for data protection use cases. The company is considered one of the top solution providers in the broad backup and disaster recovery marketplace. In recent months, the vendor has strategically begun to brand itself as a data management tool. Commvault is one of several companies in the marketplace that has rolled out a dedicated GDPR compliance solution as well.

Command Center features new capabilities like analytics and visualizations, role-based operational control and security, interactive and proactive dashboards and orchestration. The focus of the tool is to enhance how users engage with their data management software. The product’s management experience helps organizations to monitor the health and status of Commvault, their particular data environment, and defined user objectives.

The software will adjust on a per-need basis to ensure the desired goals are met and will alert on issues that will require user interaction and resolution via complex calculations. For multi-tenant environments, role specific or personalized views are provided that allow specific users to run and monitor their assets within the Commvault environment via KPI visualization. The solution also automates the orchestration of the data recovery process.
