Contrast Security, a Runtime Security company, has appointed Faya Peng as the General Manager of Application Detection and Response (ADR). In this role, Peng will oversee Contrast Security’s global strategy, product vision, and GTM execution of ADR. Peng brings years of experience in the industry to her new position, having previously served at Splunk. CrashPlan to Acquire Parablu

CrashPlan, a data protection and resilience solution provider, has acquired Parablu, Inc., a data security and resiliency solution that protects Microsoft 365 (M265) data sets. The acquisition will help CrashPlan position itself as a comprehensive backup and recovery capabilities provider for data stored on servers, endpoint devices, and Microsoft’s various offerings. Leveraging OneDrive and Azure infrastructure, the combined technologies will also enable companies to recover from ransomware incidents quickly and store their backup data with no additional costs.

Fortinet Announces the General Availability of Lacework FortiCNAPP

Fortinet, a global cybersecurity provider focused on “driving the convergence” of networking and security, has announced the general availability of Lacework FortiCNAPP. FortiCNAPP combines Lacework’s cloud-native application protection platform with Fortinet’s Security Fabric to provide companies with a unified, AI-driven platform designed to deliver in-depth visibility and protections across multi-cloud environments, all from a single vendor. Other platform benefits include AI-based anomaly detection, integrated code security, composite alerts, Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management (CIEM), and integrations with the Fortinet Security Fabric.

Snyk Introduces Several Enhancements to its Platform

Snyk, a developer security solution, has announced several advancements to its platform during the October SnykLaunch at DevSecCon. These enhancements will help Snyk improve its risk-based application security with developer-first, AI-driven offerings. New features include improvements to Snyk Analytics, Application Risk Management through Snyk AppRisk, an upgraded developer experience for pull requests, and DeepCode AI Fix tools merged directly into the integrated developer environment (IDE). Some of the updates result from Snyk’s acquisition of Reviewpad in October 2023.

TacitRed Shares Findings From its 2024 State of Attack Surface Intelligence Report

TacitRed, an attack surface intelligence solution provider, has announced the findings from its “2024 State of Attack Surface Intelligence” report. The report was conducted by Cybersecurity Insiders, a community with over 600,000 information technology (IT) security professionals in its membership. It found that half of United States enterprises have immature external attack surface management (EASM) programs, despite nearly all respondents (90 percent) indicating an increase in overall attack surface incidents. The report also reveals that 49 percent of organizations currently have immature EASM programs, with over half aiming to improve their threat responsiveness and asset inventory accuracy.
