Okta VMware cloud identity

Californian identity and access management solution provider Okta today announced a strategic partnership with VMware, an enterprise workplace software and cloud infrastructure vendor. According to the press release, the VMware Workspace ONE and Okta Identity Cloud solutions will be integrated to facilitate secure enterprise cloud migration and streamline IT management.

The issues surrounding identity and access management security on the cloud continue to plague enterprises even as digital transformation and cloud migration become mainstream business goals; digitally transformed enterprises benefit from a decentralized, connected workplace and thus boosted productivity. The Okta and VMware integration partnership is designed to secure these new workplaces via deep contextual access management capabilities and improved user experiences. According to the release, it will enable validation of users, devices, applications, and network behaviors.

In a statement, Okta Co-Founder and CEO Todd McKinnon said: “Businesses need to equip their employees with the best tools and ensure their data is secure while doing so. As a result, IT leaders not only have to connect to and manage a variety of cloud apps and on-premises solutions, they also need to balance ease of use and security.”

In his own statement, Noah Wasmer, Senior Vice President and General Manager of End-User Computing at VMware, said: “A digital workspace platform can provide the freedom and efficiency for employees to choose how and where they want to work. However, delivering a great end-user experience and security across a variety of device platforms while leveraging existing investments remains a challenge. We’re excited to partner with Okta to deliver advanced identity capabilities for the digital workspace, and empower customers with maximum choice and the flexibility needed to get the job done.”
