Who Made Gartner’s Mobile App Development Cool Vendors List?

Gartner cool vendors

Gartner’s annual Cool Vendors report has just been released for mobile application development and five of the most innovative and exciting vendors in mobile app development today have been selected. The cool vendors report is a change of pace from the magic quadrant and gives a more in depth analysis of these vendors and lets you know why you should care. It gives up and coming vendors a chance display their tech, and veteran vendors the opportunity to show their progress and innovation.

The vendors included in this year’s report are Exicon, PowWow Mobile, CloudMine, mParticle and eeGeo.

What sets all of these vendors apart this year is their ability to adapt to the current climate of enterprise mobile apps. As Gartner has stated before, the demand for these apps is going to very quickly overtake our ability to develop them. What makes these vendors particularly “cool” is their take on bridging and eventually solving this problem we’re about to face. For example, the report highlights Exicon and how they match suitable development partners with organizations based on their individual app requirements.

PowWow has very recently announced the release of SmartUX, a platform that uses machine technology to transform legacy apps into modern mobile apps, eliminating the need to build new apps from scratch and the need to have a person oversee the app at every stage of development.

CloudMine has made themselves available as the first industry-specific solution for healthcare. This allows them the expertise to apply all the special regulations needed for the healthcare industry. This will speed up production as well as create better and more secure apps for healthcare providers.

Geo-location now has a big part to play in enterprise mobile apps and eeGeo has created a cross-platform SDK to build a fully rendered and detailed visualization  of the area you’re working in.

These companies are all very different, but each of them has a very significant part to play in the future thinking and creation of enterprise mobile apps. In the coming years, creating apps without the involvement of IT is going to become necessary and new technology like this is part of what will make this possible.
