App47 Defines Mobile Application Management and Calls Out the Imposters

App47 Chris Schroeder MAM Mobile Application Management

App47 Chris Schroeder MAM Mobile Application ManagementIn a recent blog post App47’s President and CEO, Chris Schroeder, dispels a misconception about Mobile Application Management (MAM) and he seems to be pretty adamant about it. He writes that the idea of a MAM solution beginning and ending with an app store is preposterous and quite offensive actually. He defines MAM as being “a systems-management view of enterprise mobile apps. It encompasses deployment, configuration, monitoring, management, and security.”

Without the configuration, monitoring, management and security aspects that true MAM brings, you will not only lack a MAM solution but also incur inconvenience and trouble. Schroeder explains that this misleading definition of MAM, of which does the space a disservice, will lead to a muddled mess of solutions trying to offer what a single true MAM solution can. With too many chefs in the kitchen “incompatibility issues, increased miscommunication, misaligned objectives” will inevitably arise.

To App47, MAM is all about the full application and mobility lifecycle. If you are not doing everything from deploying to monitoring to securing, and everything else in between, you are a MAM imposter. We tend to agree with Schroeder’s points and to quote Charles Barkley, Anything less would be uncivilized. Click here to read the entire post from App47 and Chris Schroeder.
