Comparitech Tracks 1,020 October Ransomware Attacks As Healthcare And Education Hit New Highs

Comparitech recorded 1,020 ransomware attacks in October, the year’s second-highest monthly total, including 81 acknowledged by affected organizations and 939 unconfirmed claims. Healthcare recorded 85 attacks and education 47, both new monthly highs in the tracker’s recent data, while transportation attacks rose to 61 from 27 in September. The United States accounted for 442 tracked attacks, or 43%. Because most entries remain unconfirmed and disclosures can arrive later, the figures represent observed activity and claims—not a final count of independently verified incidents.
