Databricks Lets Teams Resize Stateful Spark Streams Without Rebuilding Checkpoints
Databricks has introduced on-demand state repartitioning in public preview for Apache Spark Structured Streaming workloads running Databricks Runtime 18 or later with the RocksDB state store. The feature lets teams change a stream’s state-store partition count after deployment, safely redistributing accumulated state instead of forcing a checkpoint rebuild, which supports performance tuning and infrastructure right-sizing as throughput changes; Coveo reports a 40% reduction in related Amazon S3 API costs using the capability.
