The Constellation ShortList for Self-Service Advanced Analytics evaluates more than 12 providers categorized in the marketplace. Constellation believes self-service data preparation capabilities are an important aspect to products in this space, while also including graphical UIs, streamlined workflows, cloud deployment options, and collaboration as key thresholds.
Constellation provides a bare-bones definition of why this market is noteworthy for early adopters of predictive technologies. The report adds: “The category is important for any organization that wants to take advantage of forward-looking calculated and modeled insights that go beyond historical reporting.”
According to the report, advanced analytics “represent a class of software that helps companies go beyond historical reporting to predict future opportunities and risks.” Constellation also speaks to an important change we’re beginning to see in enterprise circles, where line-of-business users are empowered to use technologies once assigned only to data scientists. With the rise of the citizen data scientist, adoption of these types of technologies figures to explode.
