Solutions Review’s Data Analytics and BI Vendors to Watch is an annual listing of solution providers we believe are worth monitoring. Companies are commonly included if they demonstrate a product roadmap aligning with our meta-analysis of the marketplace. Other criteria include recent and significant funding, talent acquisition, a disruptive or innovative new technology or product, or inclusion in a major analyst publication.
Data analytics and BI software is increasingly being influenced by emergent technologies. AI and machine learning functionality once reserved for the most complex advanced analytics solutions is now pervasive. Augmentation and automation are becoming mainstream alongside citizen scientist personas in enterprise settings. The BI and analytics marketplace is mature and crowded with excellent software tools for a variety of use cases, verticals, deployment methods, and budgets.
These data analytics and BI Vendors to Watch have met at least two of our five points of inclusion and represent to some degree the evolution of the marketplace. Knowi offers a search-based analytics platform that integrates with Slack so users can get answers quickly by typing “/knowi.” Knowi can also be embedded into an app or website or white-labeled to include custom branding. Knowi includes Natural Language BI as well.
Mode Analytics lets you run advanced analysis by switching between a cloud-based SQL Editor, Python and R notebooks, and interactive visualizations. The SQL Editor enables users to share and search analysis and set definitions while reports update automatically. Dashboard key features include calculated fields, drag-and-drop analysis, and custom visualizations. Notebooks let you expand your analysis, collaborate across team and tell stories with the data.
Outlier AI offers an automated business analysis platform that uncovers unexpected patterns and relationships using AI and machine learning. The product is designed to collect and monitor data in real-time and notify you of important moments of unexpected or dramatic change. Outlier works across a number of data sources, including cloud-based services and cloud or on-prem storage. Outlier was recently selected as the best AI-based solution for marketing in the Artificial Intelligence Breakthrough Awards Program for 2020.
Sigma Computing offers a cloud-based business intelligence tool that features self-service via an intuitive spreadsheet user interface. The product touts visual data analysis with no SQL required, as well as dynamic charts, graphs, and dashboards. Users can query live against their cloud data warehouse and scale up to billions of data rows. Other key features include ad-hoc data exploration, visual data modeling, and direct click from dashboards into raw data. Sigma also includes modern data governance capabilities.
Sisu offers an augmented analytics platform for structured data. The product automates manual data exploration so users can find hidden facts in complex data. Sisu automatically prioritizes facts based on their impact and provides detailed, interpretable context to refine and support conclusions. The tool features fact boards, annotations, and the ability to share facts and analysis across teams as well. As new information arrives in your cloud data warehouse, Sisu will continually re-evaluate metrics and surface new facts.
