HP WiFi on Campus Case Studies

HP WiFi on Campus Case StudiesHP recently announced three deals in educational institutions, and while legacy infrastructures were the main cause of disruption for all, each highlight different benefits and use cases for HP wireless networking solutions (WNS). With two K-12 school districts of differing sizes and one higher ed. institution implementing HP WNS, we see benefits ranging from cost savings to scalability to increased bandwidth. Where is a little bit more about each implementation.

With state-mandated online testing requirements approaching the Rush-Henrietta Central School District needed to address their legacy infrastructure in order to support such initiatives. However with budget cuts looming, improving said infrastructure would be no small task. With lower cost of ownership in mind Thomson Thomas, network and Infrastructure administrator at Rush-Henrietta Central School District said, “Upgrading our entire wired infrastructure with HP Networking solutions immediately saved us $100,000 over competing offerings, while meeting our long-term growth requirements with better performance and less maintenance. Moreover, this upgrade allowed us to improve our existing, non-HP wireless network to support the 802.11n standard.”

The Dallas ISD has over 175,000 students spread across 200 facilities. These numbers can cause networking issues even without a legacy infrastructure in place. Needing to bring in a solution that would cater to the growing needs of a growing district, they turned to HP to provide a unified network to prepare for the future. Gray Salada, executive director, Dallas IndependentSchool Districtsays “By deploying HP Networking solutions, we are getting quality technology without compromising budget resources. This allows us to deliver top-notch services to those who matter most — our students.” The school district improved connectivity speed from 100Mb to 10Gb, paving the way for IT to support future virtual and collaborative learning environments.

Cuesta College needed to be able to provide around the clock access to applications and course information to its students. In an effort in increase the student’s ability to access information they turned to HP Networking solutions to provide a flexible infrastructure that enabled Cuesta College to increase network bandwidth and meet the needs of students and faculty.
