Blended Review: Alfresco Content Management (ECM) Software

Review Alfresco Content Management

Review Alfresco Content Management

Within enterprise technology, there are several sources for user reviews of vendors and solutions. In our opinion, the Big Three sites for technology reviews are Gartner Peer Insights, G2 Crowd and Trust Radius.

Viewed individually, each site offers the capacity to gain an accurate and deep understanding of how a complex solution is perceived by real users. When taken in the aggregate, these three top solution review sites provide a wealth of information from multiple points of view and taking the time to visit each is a “must” as you think about what technology will be right for your organization.

In order to be considered for a blended review, a content management solution must have at least one review at Gartner Peer Insights, G2 Crowd and Trust Radius.  Below is a very brief summary of the user review sites for Alfresco Enterprise Content Management.  We strongly encourage you to visit each of these sites in order to get a full picture of what users of Alfresco have to say about their experiences with the solution.

Gartner Peer Insights

At Gartner there are just a couple of reviews of Alfresco. Each of those “peer insights” is from large companies and both reviews are average, mostly criticizing the installation process, while praising the product once it’s installed. The most salient quote for us comes from a principal architect: “Installation and proper configuration has been difficult to ensure stability and performance of the product… Once properly installed, customer programming using the industry-standard CMIS API is very useful.”

G2 Crowd

Over at G2 Crowd, there are over 25 reviews of Alfresco, with most of them being very positive. Compared to the smaller review sample over at Gartner, G2 Crowd represents users from large and small companies. For us, a one quote from a system administrator jump out: “Alfresco can easily integrate with Exchange and replace you P drive, and in so doing instantly enable a full range of document disposition capabilities across a spectrum of content types.”

TrustRadius

In contast with Gartner and G2 Crowd, Trust Radius requires that you register to read full reviews. At TrustRadius, the majority of the reviews are from mid-sized and enterprise companies. In one review the administrative user provides some insight into it how they “use Alfresco to manage digital documents for both our HR department and Student Records departments.” Certainly a great example of the type of specific use case that makes user review sites so valuable in the buying process.
