66 Cybersecurity Firms Named to the 2018 Inc. 5000

Small business and startup publication Inc. released their “2018 Inc. 5000” list, this year’s iteration of their annual compilation of the fastest growing privately held small companies in the United States.

The 2018 Inc. 5000 provides some interesting contrasts with the previous year’s iteration. While 2017 named 67 cybersecurity solution providers to their list as opposed to this year’s 66, the 2018 list shows just how high cybersecurity firms can reach in the modern marketplace.

SIEM vendor Exabeam, who did not appear in the 2017 list, was named the 12th fastest growing privately held small company overall in the 2018 Inc. 5000 list. Diversified Protection reached number 40. Contrastly, in the 2017 list, no cybersecurity firm ranked above 169.

The heights achieved this year appear to highlight the growth of investment in cybersecurity overall as its necessity for daily business processes becomes increasingly apparent in the digital age. The growth may be connected to venture capital firms who have been investing in or acquiring cybersecurity solution providers in droves throughout 2018.

Plenty of familiar faces returned to the 2018. Inc. 5000 list, including Cylance, Alert Logic, Malwarebytes, and Simeio Solutions. It also included a first-time appearance by ThreatConnect, among others.

The 2018 Inc. 5000 list includes (but is not limited to) the following cybersecurity solution providers:

  • Cylance
  • Alert Logic
  • Malwarebytes
  • Simeio Solutions
  • ThreatConnect
  • SiteLock
  • Preventia
  • Exabeam
  • 1Micro
  • Kinetix
