New Mobile Application Management and Services from Dell
I heard an interview this morning with Michael Dell talking about some of Dell’s recent work and some of the near future plans for the company. Amongst other things (possibly taking the company private) Dell talked about how over the years they have expanded their offerings from hardware to include software and services, of which are having a large impact on the business. Interestingly enough we just saw a press release form Dell come across our desk announcing that Dell Services has created mobile strategies and mobile application services for the enterprise.
The New Dell Mobility Services Workshop aims to help customers identify mobility requirement and plan for processes, security and management of their own mobility applications. The release states that “The Dell Enterprise Mobility Application portfolio includes Mobility Strategy Consulting, Multi-Platform Application development (iOS, Android, BlackBerry(R) and Windows(R) 8; both native and cross platform), User Experience, Mobile Business Intelligence and Mobile Testing.”
Dell clearly understands the impact that mobility is having within the enterprise and more specifically the use of enterprise applications. Raman Sapra, executive director for applications & business process outsourcing for Dell Services says, “Dell has a unique ability to cover the entire mobile lifecycle, from providing the devices to offering the range of application services to help customers oversee their own mobile solutions or to manage it for them.”
Dell’s mobility portfolio and these new services that are catering to the mobile lifecycle include workshops consulting services offering in-depth analysis and formal recommendations for applications and strategy. They cross into application development, testing and management that allow IT to manage applications and devices, designed to ensure data security at every step of the process. Application user experience features, maintenance, support and deployment are available through their new mobility services as well.
