Datadog Unveils Security Monitoring for Real-Time Network Threat Detection
Monitoring services provider Datadog recently announced the launch of Security Monitoring, a real-time threat detection solution for networks, applications, and infrastructure. This native security product runs alongside the infrastructure, APM, and logs data services that operate through Datadog’s cloud monitoring platform. Through Security Monitoring, Datadog helps bridge the gap between security, development, and operations teams, making it easier for them to collaborate on responding to security events.
“Our customers are moving into a world in which security must become a shared responsibility across engineering teams to address the increased complexity and scale of their environments,” said Marc Tremsal, Datadog’s Director of Product Management. “We built Security Monitoring to break down silos between security professionals and their DevOps peers, and provide real-time threat detection in modern hybrid cloud environments.”
The Security Monitoring update allows administrators to deploy security rules (either pre-sent rules curated by Datadog or custom rules set by the user) and apply them in real-time. Security Monitoring combines observability data, including infrastructure metrics and logs, and security-related integrations into one centralized program
“Our developers and operations already rely on Datadog for observability, so we’ve been looking to leverage this comprehensive data for security,” said Martin Strýček, Kiwi.com’s Head of Infrastructure. “With Datadog’s new Security Monitoring product, our AppSec team can analyze authentication events across all our applications with a single set of rules.”
