RIM Consolidates Their Mobility Management Offers for Better MDM, MAM and EMM

RIM Blackberry 10 MDM MAM EMM Blackberry Enterprise MobilityResearch in Motion (RIM) will consolidate its mobile management offerings into one over arching platform with Blackberry Enterprise Service (BES) 10. The BlackBerry Mobile Fusion, BlackBerry Device Service and Universal Device Service will be rolled into the new BES 10 offering and will become RIM’s primary mobile device management offering when it launches during the first quarter of calendar year 2013.

This consolidated version of RIM’s enterprise mobility management product portfolio for mobile device, security, infrastructure, and app management will bring all aspects under on unified web-based administrative console for management purposes. Jeff Holleran, senior director of RIM’s Enterprise Product Management, says “BES 10 represents both an evolution and consolidation of RIM’s enterprise mobility management (EMM) offer to make things simple, flexible, and scalable for your organization. New functionality for managing BlackBerry 10 devices will be included, and existing functionality (currently in BlackBerry Mobile Fusion) will be incorporated into a single product offering.”

Like their current mobile management offerings BES 10 will provide support across BlackBerry 7 OS and prior smartphones, BlackBerry 10 devices, BlackBerry PlayBook tablets, as well as iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. RIM’s ongoing efforts in the enterprise mobility space seem to be attempts to halt their loss of traction for both device usages and management products in the enterprise. Can these efforts and improvements allow RIM to keep their heads above water in these increasingly mobile environments? What do you think?
