SAP Cozies Up to Windows 8 with Mobile Apps, Platform Support
Windows 8 was designed with mobile devices and their applications in mind, and now an industry leading solutions provider is making sure that its app development platform supports the new Microsoft environment.
SAP announced that it will add Windows 8 app development support for its SAP Mobile Platform, formerly the Sybase Unwired Platform. Additionally, SAP is rolling out 6 new Windows 8 business apps.
Chris Kanaracus of IDG News Service says that the move by SAP “underscores the companies’ deep partnership at a time when many observers believe Microsoft’s new OS is in for a tough ride.”
While the two companies are competitors in some areas, their solutions in many other areas are so closely integrated that if SAP were to try to drop Windows 8, they could face a backlash from SAP customers that currently use windows and want to upgrade to Windows 8.
