ChatGPT is Already Disrupting
Over the holidays, I was involved in several conversations with family and friends about ChatGPT. Much like those working in IT and having relatives assume you have the skills to fix their laptops. Many of mine assumed I was the logical source for questions about this new powerful AI bot. I have tested the platform for the past few weeks, and it’s impressive.
For those of you looking for a general overview, I asked ChatGPT the following question “Explain what ChatGPT is, the technology behind it, how it is best used, what are its limitations, and the value it delivers to users in 300 words using a high school level vocabulary.”
The italicized description below was written by ChatGPT in less than 7 seconds. After proofreading, I changed two very small grammar issues using Grammarly, an AI-based plugin for Chrome and LinkedIn.
ChatGPT is a chatbot that uses natural language processing (NLP) technology to understand and generate human-like responses to user input. It is based on the GPT (Generative Pre-training Transformer) language model, which was developed by OpenAI.
The technology behind ChatGPT involves training a large neural network on a massive dataset of human language. This allows the chatbot to learn the patterns and structures of human language and generate responses that are similar to how a human would respond.
ChatGPT is best used for generating human-like responses to user input in a chat or messaging context. It can be used in customer service, for generating personalized responses to users in a social media context, or for creating interactive chatbot experiences.
There are some limitations to ChatGPT. It cannot browse the internet or access external information, so it can only generate responses based on the information it has been trained on. It is also not able to understand or respond to user input that is significantly different from the type of language it has been trained on.
Overall, ChatGPT delivers value to users by providing a convenient and efficient way to communicate with a chatbot that can generate human-like responses. It can save time and effort for businesses by handling basic customer service inquiries, and it can provide a more engaging and personalized experience for users interacting with chatbots in a social media or messaging context.
ChatGPT is disrupting content creation in an incredible fashion. More to come.
