Decoding the Language of Innovation: Q1 2024 vs. Q3 2023

Decoding the Language of Innovation: Q1 2024 vs. Q3 2023

- by Doug Shannon, Expert in Artificial Intelligence

The comparison of CEO discussions from Q1 2024 to Q3 2023 offers valuable insights into shifting executive discourse. Curated byย IoT Analytics, this analysis provides a glimpse into evolving dynamics amid the ever-changing tech and business landscape. Let’s dive into the points.

The Hype Cycle Curve Unveiled

Imagine words as markers on the innovation timeline, revealing where we stand collectively as a society. I see these words echoing the stages of the Hype Cycle – from ๐“๐ž๐œ๐ก ๐„๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ to ๐’๐ค๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ฌ, each contributing in their own way, yet all driving toward progress.

Understanding the Words and where they sit

This Quarter, there is so much AI that there is AI & AI (II). Now that Artificial Intelligence is a household term, the emergence of AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is catching the attention of early adopters. Simultaneously, the upswing in bringing back BitCoin and Metaverse gaining traction at the same time is something to watch. What I think is interesting and makes this report so important is that it matches what I’m seeing in the GenAI space.

AI Adoption is still 100% top of mind. CIOs are feeling the pressure, and leaders are being asked to drive toward GenAI.

Public vs. Private Sector Perspectives

There is a surge in innovation and tech enthusiasm from the public sector, with visionaries in the daily news leading the charge or the charge to change. On the flip side, the private sector, often more conservative, is navigating concerns about sustainability, geopolitical uncertainty, economic challenges, and supply chain disruptions. These late majority players tread cautiously, prioritizing stability over rapid adoption.

Navigating the Innovation Landscape

I see (2) interesting items here:

  1. Cloud, IoT, Edge Computing, and Digital Twins are enabled by Automation and are leading toward the coming Autonomous Enterprise.
  2. Then, there is the other spectrum of words: election, economic concerns, Sustainability, and Inflation. These words tend to impact other words like Labor Market and Reshoring. Time will tell. Yet, we shouldn’t turn a blind eye to it.

Key Takeaway

Within these words, we discern not just trends but the collective mindset of innovators, early adopters, and the pragmatic majority. It’s a dynamic word search that reflects our evolving relationship with technology. So, as we step into Q2 of 2024, let’s decode the narrative, innovate responsibly, and shape a future that aligns with our collective vision.
