The key features of this update revolve around application-aware infrastructure and making any type of workload self-managing, anywhere, in real-time (SMART). Workload automation is a crucial component for any DevOps team, so this update is certainly welcomed.
Turbonomic v6.1 will include “continuous usage automation of AWS Reserved Instances, new integration with Cisco AppDynamics, new continuous optimization of container platforms, and a next-generation AI-powered Decision Engine.”
One of Turbonomic’s primary objectives is to make life easier for hybrid cloud users. Workloads are continually distributed across multiple clouds in today’s IT environments. Managing the cloud is more difficult than ever due to the influx of new solutions and multi/hybrid cloud environments. Its long been known that automation would become a staple for any enterprise using the cloud, Turbonomic is working to make this simpler.
Below are some additional features that Turbonomics points out in the press release. We encourage you to read the entire release here.
- Continuously automating AWS Reserved Instance (RI) utilization, in concert with re-sizing actions, enabling true elasticity and often driving 30% or more cloud savings.
- Understanding application resource utilization and topology, and automating trustworthy decisions, with new Application Performance Management (APM) technology integrations, beginning with Cisco AppDynamics, which has recently been positioned as a leader in the March 2018 Magic Quadrant for Application Performance Monitoring Suites. This new integration builds upon Turbonomic’s robust native application-aware capabilities, with additional future APM integrations expected, including DynaTrace, New Relic, and others.
- Continuous optimization of container platforms, at scale, with new support for Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, and Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
