Cloud backup, recovery, and restore software provider, Asigra, has announced that the Asigra TrueNAS Backup Appliance will be unveiled at the VMworld conference held in Las Vegas. Through its partnership with iXsystems, the new solution integrates iXsystems’ TrueNAS storage with Asigra Cloud Backup. The solution also offers flexibility and data integrity through the OpenZFS open source file system and volume management.
Configured with Asigra Cloud Backup Software version 14, the Asigra TrueNAS Backup Appliance is a physical hardware solution. In order to combat malware attacks, the software converges cyber security and data protection. Additionally, Asigra Cloud Backup enables IT and backup administrators to protect business data through the use of automation and a console aimed to simplify managed backup. The tool runs on iXsystems’ TrueNAS hybrid storage systems, which offer scalability, availability, and flexibility.
Executive vice president of Asigra, Eran Farajun stated, “the Asigra TrueNAS Backup Appliance is a very compelling choice for MSPs who need to quickly and reliably build out their backup service infrastructure without undue complexity or costs. This service provider optimized solution protects data in any environment, including VMware deployments in AWS, and delivers unrivaled flexibility for Asigra administrators and the business clients they support.”
The appliances also can be used as a general purpose NAS, offering support for common operating systems, applications, and hypervisors. All systems easily scale when needed, as well as provide flexible replication and snapshotting.
Brett Davis, the executive vice president of iXsystems also made a statement: “Feature-rich, multi-platform data protection capable of scaling on demand is a must for organizations operating in distributed computing environments, where business information exists across physical, virtual and cloud-based repositories. With the evolved state of IT, the Asigra TrueNAS Backup Appliance significantly reduces complexity and TCO comparative to legacy solutions, delivering enterprise-ready unified storage with all of the advantages, reliability, and flexibility made available with the ZFS file system.”
